My Ninja

This weekend I went to Motorcycle school to learn how to drive a motorcycle, a gift Otis had given me after our engagement. Aside from dropping the bike on my leg and scaring the crap out of me the first day, everything went well. I considered quitting after the accident, but I knew I couldn’t let myself be defeated. How much of a girl would I be then? I also knew I wouldn’t be able to handle the disappointment on Otis’s face if I quit. He was so excited about me learning how to ride.

I’m glad I sucked it up and stuck it out because I ended up getting the best score in the class! Plus, I’ve already got my obligatory fall out of the way.

During our celebratory lunch Otis got very serious and admitted he’d been lying to me for quite some time and he wanted to come clean. That’s when he handed me the paperwork for this:

We had been talking about me getting a bike in a couple of years, and all along he’s had this thing since February. Sneaky little bastard. I’m not sure how comfortable I feel marrying someone who lies like that

I am SO excited and can’t wait to start riding it. It will be a bit before I’m brave enough to venture out into traffic. And yes, I will be careful, I’m not stupid and I understand the gravity of what I’m going to be doing here. And please, don’t tell me your horror stories about someone you know that wrecked on a bike. I know the risks and plan to be as safe as possible.
