I was reading this post on Dooce this morning and noticed something about one of the pictures. What is up with the hideous lattice background? Who thought this would look good in a picture? Here, let's put this attrociously busy background behind you. It will help detract from your hideous clothes and hair, another plague of the 80's.
And just in case you're thinking maybe Dooce's picture is some sort of anomoly, I give you this picture of my dad and me, circa 1986.

I think I can honestly say I never had a single picture taken in front of white painted lattice EXCEPT pictures with Santa Claus/the Easter Bunny. For some reason that lattice was neutral mall background for any holidays.
