I just saw a Father's Day commercial for Academy in which they were encouraging me to purchase New Balance shoes for my dad to help him "live his days with gusto". Gusto? First of all, I don't think a pair of tennis shoes are going to help my father live his life with gusto. Perhaps a new sports car or male enhancement herbal supplements would do the trick, but not tennis shoes. Secondly- Academy, you REALLY need to hire a new ad agency because I think your current one is seriously out of touch with ANY CULTURE FROM THE LAST 4 DECADES.

'with gusto' seems like a pretty common phrase to me. It's certainly one I've heard before in conversation.
But then I looked up the etymology of the word gusto, and it's Italian (as am I), and since there much of an Italian population in Texas, that could be the issue right there. Maybe they just need to hire an ad agency that speaks Texan.
