The bittersweet taste of freedom

I officially have no reason to go to Starbucks anymore. I never really frequented the place, but I would occasionally stop by to treat myself to one of my favorite coffee drinks - a grande non-fat almond latte. Yesterday morning I stopped by my local Starbucks for this particular drink and was informed that they no longer carry almond syrup. Having not yet had any coffee, my brain struggled to process this shocking information. I found myself standing there, staring open mouthed at the Barista - how could this be? She suggested some other syrups, including some sugar-free ones (yuck), I think hoping some suggestion would register on my blank face and help me make a decision. I finally decided to just get a plain old latte. No syrup. No almondy goodness. Boring. As I was getting in my car I realized that, while I'm saddened I won't be able to enjoy my favorite drink anymore, I am no longer prisoner to the evil Starbucks empire and can purchase my coffee at the much tastier local coffee shop across the street. Yay for supporting Austin businesses! Boo to the evil Starbucks empire.
