What up?

Weekend with Suge

This weekend we watched Suge, a.k.a the Pug Thug (or Stitch, as Otis likes to call him). He was a blast, and a great dose of medicine for Abi. Abi has this horrible routine where she wakes up in the morning all hyper and happy to be alive, and we're all WTF dog, it's 7am. CHILL. OUT. So, half awake, one of us will stumble downstairs to take her out. Usually by the time we get back upstairs we're awake and ready to start our day. For Abi, however, it's time for Second Sleep, which we are rudely keeping her from as we get ready for work. She typically will settle herself down in "her" comfy leather chair and glare at us the rest of the morning until we walk out the door. With Suge in the house, however, Abi had to forego her Second Sleep. When Suge woke up, he wasn't ready to play. He was ready to PLAY. And while Abi glared crankily from her chair, he would be bouncing up and down in front of her, pawing at her face, begging her to play with him. We here in the Otis household call that payback.

I was also reminded how long it's been since I had a puppy in the house. I'd forgotten how much you have to watch them. As in ALL THE TIME. Suge has mutant razor teeth, capable of shredding any substance known to man in about 30 seconds. Including titanium. Every time I thought I'd given him a toy safe for him to chew, I'd blink and he'd have the thing reduced to a wad of string.

My favorite thing about Suge is his Pug Thug face. Every time he'd look up at us he'd have some version of it on, whether it was full on pug grill, or just a half smirk. I swear if they made tiny dog grills I'd totally get him a blinged out one. And he would totally rock it.

Ha! Glad you had a good time with our little dog-son. He's pretty awesome isn't he? I'm looking forward to more dog exchanges with you guys and others. Dogs need friends too.

Andrea Abdine:

dude - you guys are awesome for taking care of Sugie Pie - this blog was so fun to read! I'm glad he provided you with some entertainment while we were gone and he didn't use his razor sharp mutant teeth on your furniture - he has no interest in furniture (thank god!).

kelly:

Suge is one tough dog, just like his namesake.

Otis:

Turns out the titanium comment is actually close to the truth too. I lost my wedding ring on Sunday afternoon, but figured that I just misplaced it and would remember where I put it soon enough. Then Sunday evening and Monday morning rolled through, no luck. Then I cleaned up 1/2 the house looking for it...still no luck. Finally, I remembered that I set my wedding ring on the table while eating lunch and that it had trace amounts of food on it from my burrito...then my mind set to the one thing that could eat titanium and not flinch, Suge.

Fortunately though, I ended up finding my wedding ring pulled into two pieces and laying right next to the dog toys under the water dish. He's a tricky little one, and if you don't watch him for a second you never know what he might do.

Love the barracuda smile:)

Andrea Abdine:

dude did he really take your wedding ring? thats not good! he does like shiny metal objects though. i dont think he eats them - he just likes to relocate them - like our shoes. he doesnt chew our shoes - he just relocates them.

dropping a "hey"
