Today I went to the Citywide Garage Sale with my friend Kristy, a.k.a. my Lucky Charm. Together we sifted through the rubble strewn about the Palmer Events Center and came out with some fabulous finds. My biggest success was a piece of furniture I found for the long, empty wall that runs across the left side of the living room. We wanted a piece that could serve as a dumping ground for keys, mail, etc. AND provide hidden storage space for Otis' motorcycle gear AND not be more than 15" deep AND also fit with the period of our home. No small order. I somehow found a piece that fits all of our needs, will look amazing in our living room once I refinish it, and I got it for a steal. I was very proud of myself for haggling the lady down on the price, a skill I have never been good at but improved today. After we left the Garage Sale we went to Guerro's for lunch, where we were seated immediately even though it was high noon and the line was out the door. I have no idea how that happened except that Kristy has magical wish fulfilling powers.
Here are a few other random items I snagged for myself, just stuff that caught my eye that I thought would be fun to have. And I'm proud to say I only paid full price for 1 item, and that's because it was so cheap I didn't really think it was worth it.
These were my first purchase of the day. I have always wanted some glass drink stirrers, but they are almost impossible to find. I snatched these up as soon as I saw them, and now have them sitting on the shelf with the rest of our glassware. My favorite is the little yellow bird.
I picked up these scarves from a booth that had tables piled high with everything from shirts to fur coats to quilts to doilies. The prices were unbelievable, if you were willing to dig. I'm going to use these to tie my short hair back, or maybe dress up a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.
And finally, I picked up this evening clutch at the same booth as the scarves, dug it out of a table full of purses. I debated back and forth on it, but now that I have it home, I'm so glad I picked it up. I will probably rarely use it, but a woman always needs a classy clutch for an evening out on the town.
